Is Real World Data real?

Real-world data has stepped into the clinical and observational research setting. Not to replace the valuable and indispensable standard randomized clinical trials evidence but to help fill in the gaps between such controlled environment and actual clinical practice.

Looking into ClinicalTrials.gov, the number of trials using “Real World” as the search parameter accounts for over 1,000 studies distributed worldwide and counting.

For us people working in the clinical research area, I suggest to keep an eye on how quickly and effectively will real-world data will contribute to influence clinical practice.
